Full Service Representation to Address a Variety of Legal Concerns
Our areas of practice are as diverse as the clients we serve. In addition to our comprehensive family law practice, we provide effective estate planning and estate administration services. In our business law practice, we guide businesses through commercial transactions and resolve business disputes.
We protect the rights of injured people, pursuing personal injury claims and workers' compensation benefits, where appropriate. We also serve employees who have been the victims of employment discrimination or harassment in the workplace, including discrimination based on sexual orientation. In addition to our broad civil litigation practice, we provide skilled criminal defense representation.
Serving the GLBT Community Since 1991
Attorney Mary Notaris founded her family law practice in 1991 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and moved the firm to Salem in 1994. She brings a special focus to the unique legal issues facing gay and lesbian couples regarding property, children and equal protection under the law. She has been a devoted advocate for second parent adoption rights, gay marriage and civil unions.
Mary excels at demystifying the legal process for clients so they can make informed decisions and avoid unnecessary civil litigation. She can hold her own to protect client interests in court - knowing that judges and juries may be biased against GLBT clients - but puts her energy into out-of-court resolutions.
